Fernando Brites, born in Montargil, has a degree in music in the accordion class of Paulo Jorge Ferreira, at the Superior School of Applied Arts in Castelo Branco. He is one of the most recognized accordionists of his generation, having won several awards as a soloist and with chamber formations.
He has performed in renowned stages such as Casa da Música (Porto), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon), Teatro Campo Alegre (Porto), Teatro Municipal de Bragança, Teatro Académico Gil Vicente (Coimbra) among many others, with live broadcasts by radio Antena 2.
He took part in premieres of works such as “Lumen” by Paulo Jorge Ferreira for windquintet and accordion and “Anagnóstis” by Daniel Schvetz for solo accordion, both of which had their world premiere at the Casa da Música in Porto. He recently premiered two works by Lino Guerreiro, “Krone” and “Metamophosis” for clarinet and accordion, as well as the work “Ludic V-B” by Daniel Schvetz also for clarinet and accordion. He regularly collaborates with the MPMP Essemble and the Porto Symphony Orchestra, where he had the opportunity to work with the brilliant conductors: Baldur Brönnimann, Ryan Wigglesworth and Peter Rundel. He is part of the Duo Krone with the talented clarinetist Miguel Costa, a project in which the main focus is the interpretation and disclosure of the original Portuguese repertoire for this formation, as well as encouraging the creation of new works.
